Michaela Fieldhouse

Today, we gather to celebrate the extraordinary life of Michaela Jayne Fieldhouse. She was a cherished daughter, sister, partner, mother, and grandmother—a beacon of love and light to all who knew her. As we reflect on her journey, let us honour the profound impact she made on each of our lives.

Michaela Jayne Fieldhouse was born to Christine and Michael Fieldhouse. Growing up in Parsons Cross, she shared her childhood with her brothers, Simon, and Lee. From her earliest days, Michaela displayed a resilience and determination that would characterise her life’s journey. After attending Yewlands School, she embarked on a path that led her to various corners of the South Yorkshire, from the Park Hill Flats to Elizabeth Street in Goldthorpe, and later to Doncaster Road before finally settling on Milton Road in Mexborough.

Family meant everything to Michaela. She was once married and had her loving daughter Rebecca in this relationship, but it wasn’t to last. Michaela didn’t have far to look for love though. Kevin, her neighbour from a couple of doors down came to her aid when she needed it the most. First through friendship, then a bond that has last over 30 years together. They meant so much to each other. Michaela also loved her stepdaughter Kirsty, and loved the fact that Ava, Sofia and Max all called her Nannan.

Professionally, Michaela dedicated herself to her work with unwavering commitment. From her days in the ice cream factory in Sheffield to her time at Bassetts in Hillsborough, and later in a clothing factory in Goldthorpe, she approached each role with diligence and passion. Until she could no longer work after an accident in which she broke her neck left her unable to work again.

Michaela’s journey was marked by moments of triumph and adversity. Despite facing numerous challenges, including health struggles, she faced each obstacle with grace and courage. Her resilience and strength were an inspiration to all who knew her.

In her leisure time, Michaela found solace in life’s simple pleasures. She delighted in day trips to places like Chester Zoo and Granada Studios, finding joy in the beauty of the world around her. An avid fan of television, she spent countless hours engrossed in her favourite soaps, including Emmerdale, Coronation Street, and Home and Away, as well as supernatural films that captured her imagination.

Her love for animals was evident in her affection for her cherished cats, from Lucy to Sammy to Holly and finally Lulu, whom she adored with all her heart. Michaela’s kindness extended beyond her furry friends to those closest to her. She shared a special bond with her best friend, Paula, with whom she shared countless memories of laughter and companionship. Going to the shops together on their scooters, as well as having a few malibu and lemonades in the local Wetherspoons. Michaela and Paula were best friends for life.

Michaela’s vibrant personality lit up every room she entered. She was known for her infectious laughter and her ability to bring joy to those around her. She was also known for her love of perfume. Next going anywhere or doing anything without putting some on. One Christmas Kevin spoiled her with over £800 of perfume’s, with her favourite being Jimmy Choo. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In her quieter moments, Michaela found solace in music and literature. She had a deep appreciation for artists like Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, whose melodies filled her heart with warmth and nostalgia. She also liked listening to Def Leppard and Slade, but that was mainly because Kevin insisted on playing it in the car. She also enjoyed the simple pleasure of losing herself in a good book, finding comfort in the pages of novels and true-to-life stories.

As we bid farewell to Michaela, let us hold onto the memories of her laughter, her love, and her unwavering spirit. Though she may no longer walk beside us, her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love and light she brought into the world.
